The Pearl in the Oyster

Ste Foy sits high on the side of the Isere Valley equidistant from Bourg St Maurice, La Rossiere and Val D'Isere/Tignes. It is a small resort with about 2500 beds at the moment. It is earmarked for further development to a limit of 5000 beds. Apart from nursery drags there are only four ski lifts at the moment but more will come with the future development . These lifts give access to some of the best and the emptiest slopes in the French Alps. The easy runs are easy and the steep off piste runs are challenging indeed. There are no mass market holiday operators and no mass market yobbery. There are rarely ever any queues for the lifts; When there is new snow many instructors from neighbouring resorts bring their clients to enjoy the powder, which, with so few people around, doesn't get skied-out in the first half hour. Also popular with visitors from neighbouring resorts are the organized walks through the pine forest on snow shoes. Truly magical.
